Specific Entry Requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Arts
Normal Entry
To obtain entry under this category an applicant must:
- hold an undergraduate degree, in any discipline from a recognised University or an institution recognised under Section 10 or Section 11 of the Tertiary Education Act 1993; and
- have had at least twelve months’ experience as a committed Christian; and
- demonstrate his/her suitability for the course in an interview with a faculty member; and
- supply a reference from a minister or other appropriate person , written on a Confidential Reference form supplied by the College endorsing the application is normally requested, provided that the applicant agrees to this.
Education disadvantage may also be taken into account by the College when making its decisions.
Special Entry
Special entry may be granted to applicants who:
- have not obtained the educational standards required for admission under "Normal Entry" above if they can provide evidence of ability to cope with study at the Master of Arts level; and
- demonstrate an ability to read and write in English at a level necessary to satisfactorily study an graduate degree e.g. obtaining an IELTS score of 6.5;
- have had at least twelve months’ experience as a committed Christian; and
- demonstrate his/her suitability for the course in an interview with a faculty member; and
- supply a reference from a minister or other appropriate person , written on a Confidential Reference form supplied by the College endorsing the application is normally requested, provided that the applicant agrees to this; and
- have attained 25 years of age on 1 January of the year of proposed commencement of the course; and
- there is a place within the course for a person in this category, since places made available in this category shall not exceed 10% of the total number in any cohort.
The College reserves the right to waive any of the above entry requirements when it is satisfied that the ability, experience and spiritual standing of an applicant are sufficient to give the applicant a good chance of completing the desired course successfully.
Advanced Standing Entry
Entry to the course may be obtained under this category with advanced standing for a maximum of 36 credit points in recognition of studies completed at a recognised University, a University recognised under section 10 of the Tertiary Education Act 1993 or in a course accredited under section 11 of the Tertiary Education Act 1993. To be admitted under this category the applicant must:
- provide evidence that the qualifications held are recent and relevant to the course for which application is being made: and
- demonstrate an ability to read and write in English at a level necessary to satisfactorily study an undergraduate degree e.g. obtaining an IELTS score of 6.0; and have had at least twelve months' experience as a committed Christian; and
- demonstrate his/her suitability for the course in an interview with a faculty member; and
- supply a reference from a minister or other appropriate person , written on a Confidential Reference form supplied by the College endorsing the application is normally requested, provided that the applicant agrees to this.
